In time for the City’s Car-Free Day event on August 17, 2025, Port Moody residents and visitors aged 16 or older will have access to shared electric scooters and electric bicycles throughout most of the city.
Car-Free Day is almost here! This community celebration, filled with live music, delicious food, and activities for all ages, will take place on St. Johns Street, between Queens and Moody streets, from 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

On July 22, 2025, City Council members and Youth Focus Committee Past Chair Jonas McConville presented Coquitlam resident Vincent Zhao, who graduated from Port Moody Secondary School (PMSS) in June, with the 2025 Youth Scholarship Award.
On July 26, 2025, the City of Port Moody will unveil a new augmented reality public art installation by Jayeson Lyonns. The project – entitled Ioco Townsite Augmented Heritage Site Tour – commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Ioco Townsite.
The City of Port Moody will move forward with planning for the redevelopment of the Kyle Centre area. As a first step, Council has approved a capital project that will result in a conceptual design for a new 30,000-square-foot community centre which, pending future funding, would replace the existing Kyle Centre (125 Kyle Street). The design will also include a new plaza and expanded park space.
The City of Port Moody is saddened to learn of the passing of Bob Favelle. On behalf of Port Moody, Mayor Meghan Lahti extends our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and the many people to whom he was a mentor, coach, and leader.
