Candidate Profile: Alexandra Chan (Port Moody Voice)
Running for: Councillor
I became an RN to help people, and that journey fuelled a passion for preventative healthcare. All good change starts at grassroots, but it takes policy to make it last. That's why I pursued a Master's in Health Leadership and Policy in Clinical Education: to understand how to use policy to address the issues that start long before people walk through the hospital doors.
Our cities can be designed to keep people healthy, but only if we make that an intentional part of every proposal we approve. Safe streets, sidewalks, and walkable neighbourhoods help people live active, connected lives. Our infrastructure and amenities, including parks, the library, recreation space, and programs, are already strained by the growth we've seen, and we need to catch up so residents can actually use them.
That's why I'm committing to bringing a provincially funded family doctor clinic to Port Moody, so residents have primary care close to home. It's also why I'm going to work with a team to expand Rocky Point Park, giving our community more green space for our mental and environmental health.
I'm running for Council with Port Moody Voice to be a voice for the health of this community, for the residents here now, and for the neighbours still to come, so they can appreciate the Port Moody that drew us here in the first place. Because together, we can achieve this for our community.
