Candidate Profile: Sebastian Moon

I'm Sebastian Moon. Born and raised in Port Moody, and I know exactly how that sentence sounds in a candidate bio, so let me be specific instead of generic.
I have a B.Sc. in Biology from Thompson Rivers University, diplomas in Chemistry and Law Enforcement Studies, and I co-founded URSA Supplements, a company built right here. What actually pushed me to run wasn't a resume line, it was reading our Official Community Plan cover to cover. I found the flood risk assessment for our waterfront towers scheduled for 2027, after the towers were already approved. I found "encourage," not "require," on protecting a shoreline that's home to a globally recognized bird habitat. Growth targets set well ahead of any real plan for the roads, schools, or hospital capacity supposed to come with them.
Property taxes are up about 28% since 2022, stacked year over year. Homeowners already cover 68% of the tax base, and we keep rezoning commercial and industrial land, land the city itself says it needs to keep, into residential towers instead. Every acre we convert makes that 68% harder to bring down, and it doesn't guarantee the housing that gets built is housing young adults, families, or seniors can actually afford to stay in.
I'm not asking you to trust a slogan. I'm asking you to check the same documents I did. Port Moody's past was protected with care. I want its future to get the same.
