Highlights
- Art at Council – As part of the City's cultural events and experiences in celebration of National Indigenous History Month, Tamia Overes, a multidisciplinary artist with səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) heritage, presented a mural entitled Life Beneath the Inlet. The work offers a visual reflection of the interconnected ecosystem of the Burrard Inlet, with a particular focus on the waters surrounding Port Moody and the North Vancouver shoreline. The piece centres bull kelp, a vital species currently at the heart of Tsleil-Waututh Nation restoration efforts, as both a structural and symbolic element. The work emphasizes stewardship rather than ownership, highlighting the reciprocal relationship between the inlet and the people who have always lived alongside it.
