Highlights
- Art at Council – Ming Louie Stein read from her debut autofiction, Kintsugi: A Woman. Ming immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in 1960 at the age of four, an experience that left a lasting emotional imprint and continues to inform her creative work today. She grew up in Vancouver, where early responsibilities, cultural expectations, and a complex home life helped shape her perspective and voice.
After moving to Port Moody, Ming began writing, drawing deeply from her personal memories and a lifelong desire to tell her story. Now approaching seventy, Ming remains an active and valued member of Port Moody’s literary arts community. She participates in and organizes local literary events and continues to inspire others through her work.

Bylaw Readings – Rezoning Text Amendment – 3055 Murray Street (Mosaic Moody Yards) – Council carried a resolution to have the bylaw – relating to the expansion of general commercial uses in Building 3 of the Moody Yards development – referred to first, second, and third readings. A Public Hearing was waived in accordance with section 464(2) of the Local Government Act.
-
All three Moody Yards buildings are six storeys in height and include non-residential uses at grade and residential uses above. Buildings 1 and 2 include both commercial and low impact light industrial uses at grade, while Building 3 is more restrictive to the industrial uses at grade with a more limited amount of commercial uses. In order to make these non-residential units more viable, the applicant has requested that the scope of uses be expanded to match those of Buildings 1 and 2, and that the conditions of use be removed.

- Recalibration of Population Projections – In response to a Notice of Motion served by Mayor Meghan Lahti and Councillor Callan Morrison, Council directed staff to report on what a process timeline would look like to consider a recalibration of the population projections in the Official Community Plan (OCP). This direction stems from market conditions impacting housing occupancy of new units, and City policies and rates being directly tied to the OCP.
- Adoption – Town Centre Pickleball Court (PDF, page 14) – Council directed staff to proceed with the addition of temporary pickleball courts at the Town Centre tennis court location (300 Ioco Road) and to maximize the number of pickleball courts in the space.
- To address the growing demand for pickleball facilities in Port Moody, there is a project underway to construct three permanent pickleball courts adjacent to the tennis courts. The project has faced unforeseen delays at the proposed location, which staff hope to resolve later in 2026. To mitigate the permanent pickleball project delays, staff explored the feasibility of temporary pickleball facilities at various sites around the City to identify Town Centre as the preferred location.
