Roadwork and construction

These are roadwork and construction projects currently underway in Port Moody. The City oversees or coordinates this work, which may affect traffic in the area.

When: September 8 to November 20, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: 100 Capilano Road
Impact to you: Street parking restrictions will be in effect in front of 100 Capilano Road during the work. The parking lane will be reopened after work hours. A pedestrian hoarding structure will be installed over the sidewalk to protect the public.

When: August 3 to October 9, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: Glenayre local roads; Glencoe Drive, Ailsa Avenue, Dundonald Drive
Impact to you: Single lane alternating traffic and parking lane closures will be in effect around the work areas, and sidewalk and pathway closures may be in effect. Street parking restrictions will be in effect to accommodate the work areas. Expect traffic delays on main roads. Traffic control personnel will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: September 22 to October 23, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: 3330-3340 Henry Street
Impact to you: Parking restrictions on Henry Street in front of 3330-3340 to accommodate the work area. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: September 1 to the end of October 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: 1850 Ioco Road
Impact to you: Traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating at the work area, and parking restrictions will be in effect. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: September 28 to October 30, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: Klahanie Drive 
Impact: Street parking restrictions will be in place on Klahanie Drive and Nootka Way. Nootka Way will be closed, with local traffic permitted. Single-lane alternating traffic on Klahanie Drive, between Murray Street and Nootka Way, and Nootka Way and 500 Klahanie Drive. Pedestrians will be directed to cross to the open sidewalk. Residents and pedestrian access will be supported and managed by traffic control personnel. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: October 5 to 31, 2026
Work hours: 9am to 3pm
Location: Westbound traffic on St. Johns Street will be reduced to one lane. Street parking restrictions will be in effect, and the sidewalk will be closed. A temporary pedestrian pathway will be created, with traffic control personnel supporting pedestrians around the work areas. Business access will be maintained. Expect traffic delays.

Metro Vancouver will be installing a new water main on Dewdney Trunk Road in Coquitlam. As part of this work, Dewdney Trunk Road will be fully closed between Pier Drive and Cawthra Court for approximately four months beginning in early October 2026.

When: Early October 2026 for approximately four months
Work hours: Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm and Saturday, 8am to 7pm
Location: Dewdney Trunk Road between Pier Drive and Cawthra Court, Coquitlam
Impact to you: Dewdney Trunk Road will be closed to vehicle traffic 24 hours a day, 7 days a week between Pier Drive and Cawthra Court. A detour route will be in place via Barnet Highway and Mariner Way. Pedestrian access will be maintained via Dolphin Street and Mariner Way. Please allow extra travel time and follow all posted signage.

When: June 1 to mid-October 2026
Location: Between St. Johns Street and Brookmount Drive
Work hours: 7am to 3pm
Impact to you: Lane closures will occur one block at a time, with single-lane alternating traffic around work areas. There will also be partial closures of the west sidewalk, and pedestrians will be directed to use marked crossings. Parking will be restricted in active work zones, and access to side streets will be limited to local traffic only. Driveway access will be maintained throughout construction, and traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expect delays and plan alternate routes. When: October 5 to 31, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Locations: Elgin Street at St. George Street; Elgin Street at St. Andrews Street; Henry Street at Hugh Street; Jane Street at Hugh Street; Goulet Creek Inlet.
Impact to you: Lane closures and single lane alternating traffic/yield to oncoming traffic set-ups around the work areas. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Park and trail construction

These are park and trail construction projects currently taking place in Port Moody. They may result in temporary closures or limited access to certain areas.

Construction on the new community fieldhouse is moving forward with completion anticipated for early Fall 2027. Please note the following impacts to the parking lot during construction:

Parking changes: Fencing will be installed around the project area which will block access to the mid‑section parking stalls. Vehicles will be able to enter the parking lot from both the east and west entrances, but travel through the work area will not be possible. Parking stalls will be designated for turnaround spaces. Please note that manoeuvring space will be tight.

EV chargers: Three out of nine EV chargers will remain available while the other six will be out of service. The three chargers will be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Development

These are development projects led by private developers in Port Moody. They may cause traffic impacts or restricted access at certain times during construction.

Developer: Wesgroup Properties

Civil utility construction
When: Now to October 3, 2026
Location 2: Guildford Drive
Impact to you: Closure of Guildford Drive west of Balmoral Drive (local traffic permitted). Sidewalk to remain open. Intermittent closure of the sidewalk on Ioco Road (east side). Intermittent closure of the pathway connecting Guildford Drive and Ioco Road. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Concrete pours and deliveries
When: Now until October 25, 2026 (9am to 3pm)
Location 3: Ioco Road northbound, between Suter Brook Way and Guildford Way
Impact to you: The bike lane and right lane on northbound Ioco Road and the east sidewalk on Ioco Road between Barnet Highway and Suter Brook Way will be intermittently closed during scheduled concrete pours. A temporary bike pathway will be created next to the work area. The Inlet Centre Station @ Bay 2 bus stop (Stop ID 61988) may be closed during the work. Transit riders will be redirected to the nearest open stop. The crosswalk at Suter Brook Way and Ioco Road will remain open during both closures. Driveway and business access will be maintained. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons to be on site to assist cyclists and pedestrians. 

Material hauling and deliveries
When: June 8 to December 31, 2026
Location: 161 Ioco Road
Impact to you: Parking lane closure on east side of Balmoral Drive between Guildford Way and Guildford Drive. Trucks to enter and exit site through Balmoral Drive. Sidewalks to remain open. Traffic control persons will be on site at entrance and exit points and driveways to support with truck movements and traffic management.

When: October 2, 2026 (10am to 11am)
Developer: Anthem Properties Group Ltd.
Impact to you: Golden Spike Lane at the rear of 91 Moray Street will be closed for 1 hour during the removal of ESC equipment from site. Golden Spike Lane will be closed to local traffic only, with single lane alternating traffic operated. Access to and from private driveways and garages will be maintained during the work and supported by traffic control personnel. Traffic control persons will be onsite to assist motorists and cyclists.

Developer: Edgar Development Corp. 
When: April 6 to December 31, 2026
Work: Multi-family Construction - Excavation - Phases 1,2
Location: Intermittent single lane alternating traffic along Angela Drive between Glenayre Drive and Cecile Drive, and on Cecile Drive north of Angela Drive. Parking will be restricted in the work areas. Driveway access will be maintained. Pedestrian detours in place around work areas, including the construction of a temporary crosswalk on Cecile Drive south of Angela Drive. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expect traffic delays.

When: Now until December 31, 2026
Location: 110 James Road

Underground utility construction (Phase 1)
September 23 to October 5, 2026: From 7am to 3pm, lane closures on St. Johns Street at James Road to complete an electrical utility crossing. Parking restrictions will be in effect on St. Johns Street (north and south). Traffic on St. Johns Street will be intermittently reduced to 1 lane in each direction. Sidewalk access will be maintained. Access to driveways and James Road will be maintained. CMBC Bus Stop ID 53181 may be closed during the work. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons to be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. 
October 1-16: From 7am to 3pm, single lane alternating traffic on James Road. Traffic delays are expected.  Traffic control persons to be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Construction of multi-use complex
Now until December 31, 2026: From 7am to 7pm, single lane alternating traffic on James Road. Street parking will be restricted along James Road to accommodate staging and turnarounds of concrete trucks. The east sidewalk on James Road will be temporary closed during the work, with traffic control persons assisting pedestrians across James Road. Traffic control persons will be onsite to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
