Roadwork and construction

These are roadwork and construction projects currently underway in Port Moody. The City oversees or coordinates this work, which may affect traffic in the area.

When: Until June 30, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm (weather dependent)
Location: Barnet Highway at Reed Point Way 
Impact to you: Barnet Highway eastbound will be reduced to one lane. Traffic will merge into the left lane. Between 9am and 7pm, the bike lane on Barnet Highway westbound will be closed. The right-turn slip lane to Reed Point Way will be closed. A cyclist pathway will be delineated. Traffic delays are expected.

When: May 25 to June 15, 2026
Where: 1038 Ioco Road
Impact to you: Intermittent westbound lane closures. Single lane alternating traffic will be operated around work area during lane closure. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: June 1 to mid-August, 2026
Location: Between St. Johns Street and Brookmount Drive
Work hours: 7am to 3pm
Impact to you: Lane closures will occur one block at a time, with single-lane alternating traffic around work areas. There will also be partial closures of the west sidewalk, and pedestrians will be directed to use marked crossings. Parking will be restricted in active work zones, and access to side streets will be limited to local traffic only. Driveway access will be maintained throughout construction, and traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expect delays and plan alternate routes. Park and trail construction

These are park and trail construction projects currently taking place in Port Moody. They may result in temporary closures or limited access to certain areas.

From May 11 to July 2026, the playground for children ages 5 to 12 at Art Wilkinson Park will be closed for replacement. This play area has reached the end of its lifespan. The tot playground will remain open. New play equipment is coming. Some existing structures will be replaced, and a new disc‑net climber will be added. The spray park has reached the end of its service life and will be replaced. The new spray park will include updated water features and a new surface. Construction is expected to finish by early‑July. Looking for a place to cool off? Explore spray parks at portmoody.ca/parks.

The Hett Creek Bridge on the Wilkes Creek Trail was damaged during a windstorm in November 2024 and remains closed for safety. A contractor has been hired to complete the repair and strengthening work, with construction expected to begin in mid‑June 2026 and continue until early September 2026. Construction on the new community fieldhouse is moving forward with completion anticipated for early Fall 2027. Please note the following impacts to the parking lot during construction:

Parking changes: Fencing will be installed around the project area which will block access to the mid‑section parking stalls. Vehicles will be able to enter the parking lot from both the east and west entrances, but travel through the work area will not be possible. Parking stalls will be designated for turnaround spaces. Please note that manoeuvring space will be tight.

EV chargers: Three out of nine EV chargers will remain available while the other six will be out of service. The three chargers will be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A temporary full-size public basketball court and a new Farmers Market location will be developed at the Old Firehall site at the same time, with construction underway through mid-summer 2026. The market will operate there in fall/winter 2026. For a list of sports courts, visit portmoody.ca/parks.

Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Impact to you: Traffic entering White Pine Beach parking lot entrance will be managed by traffic control persons. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. 

Development

These are development projects led by private developers in Port Moody. They may cause traffic impacts or restricted access at certain times during construction.

Developer: Wesgroup Properties
Location: Guildford Drive
Impact to you: Closure of Guildford Drive west of Balmoral Drive (local traffic permitted). There will be instances of single lane alternating traffic at the Balmoral Drive and Guildford Drive. Sidewalk to remain open. 

Developer: Anthem Properties Group Ltd.
Impact to you: Trucks will be accessing site through Golden Spike Lane. Street parking restrictions on Moray Street. 

When: April 6 to September 30, 2026
Developer:
 Edgar Development Corp. 
Work: Multi-family Construction - Excavation - Phases 1,2,3
Location: Single lane alternating traffic along Angela Drive between Glenayre Drive and Cecile Drive, and on Glenayre Drive southbound at Angela Drive.  Parking will be restricted in the work areas. Driveway access will be maintained. Pedestrian detours in place around work areas, including the construction of a temporary crosswalk on Cecile Drive south of Angela Drive. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expect traffic delays.
