Candidate Profile: Samantha Agtarap

Running for: Councillor

Since 2022, I've pushed the Province to help with what a small city can't fix alone. I championed heat pump rebates so people in apartments and condos aren't left out. I advocated for Port Moody's fair share of the $1.5 billion in gambling revenue the Province collects every year, because that money should come back to the communities it comes from. I've worked to explain the city budget in plain language so residents can see where their money goes. And I’ve pushed for the city to prepare for the risks and future impacts of climate-related extreme weather.

I'm excited to keep working on what matters: homes people can afford at every stage of life, sidewalks and bike lanes safe enough for kids to use, a park within a five-minute walk of every home, and amenities that meet the needs of residents.

This is personal. My partner and I are raising our kids in a condo in Suter Brook. We chose it for the lifestyle it offers. Our kids can bike or transit to school and walk to the library. We're thriving, and Port Moody deserves a champion who will work day and night to build a city that works for everyone.

This work matters, and I'd be honoured to earn your vote again.
