Candidate Profile: John Grasty

Running for: Councillor

Port Moody needs independent voices, not big-city slate politics. The single, clear purpose of this campaign is to stop the slate. For too long, political slates like Port Moody Voice have tried to bring partisan tactics into local government, as we experienced between 2018 and 2022. When councillors votes are pre-packaged rather than as independent representatives, the community loses its voice. My ask of you is to use your vote for the independent candidates to protect the integrity of our council and Port Moody.
When a slate takes over, you lose your direct line to city hall. Instead of individual councillors listening to your concerns, policies are decided behind closed doors to match a group agenda. Crucial decisions about development, traffic, small businesses, and community amenities require open, robust debate and independent critical thinking. They should never be decided by a voting bloc behind closed doors before a council meeting even begins. Local government functions best when council members answer to all the residents, not just their followers, and free from the influence of a political machine.

Your vote is your power to keep local government honest, balanced, and truly representative. Protecting local democracy means rejecting big-city political slates and ensuring that city hall remains accountable, transparent, and focused purely on the community. Every single decision must put all Port Moody residents first. Use your votes for the independent candidates.
