Candidate Profile: Jessica Morrison
Running for: School Trustee
As a lifelong TriCities resident, Port Moody has proudly been my home for 20 years and am now raising our two daughters here. As a local mom whose children will spend the next 17 years in the SD43 district, I have a vested interest in ensuring our schools are safe, well-supported and ready for the growing future.
My professional experience has taught me how to bring people together, strategize, manage significant budgets and turn big ideas into actionable items. During my time with BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, I helped bring the Canucks, Whitecaps and BC Lions together for a shared cause and single marketing campaign for the first time. As a former local, award-winning small business owner, I understand the importance of accountability, fiscal responsibility and collaboration.
I’m running for Trustee, because I believe our community deserves a strong, consistent and collaborative voice at the school board table. Port Moody is growing, and we need a trustee who will advocate for our fair share of funding, plan ahead for growth, prioritize safe and supportive learning environments, and ensure parents voices are heard.
I will be accessible, accountable and willing to do the hard work. I’ll listen to residents first, ask the tough questions and work collaboratively with fellow trustees, educators, families, Port Moody Council and the Provincial Government to get results for Port Moody and SD43.
I’m in this for the long haul…for our students, our families, and our community.
