Candidate Profile: Carola Thompson

Running for: School Trustee

Carola Thompson is an urban planner, small business owner, and mum of two who has called Port Moody home for over two decades. As Managing Partner of CityState Consulting Group, her career has focused on planning for future generations and helping communities grow thoughtfully.

Carola is running for School Trustee because she believes strong schools are fundamental to strong communities. As a parent with a child in SD43, she brings both a professional planning lens and a personal understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing students and families today. Her priorities include preparing students for the future, strengthening school and community planning, supporting inclusive learning, improving safety and well-being, and ensuring accountable, collaborative governance. Carola’s approach is simple: Listen First. Lead Thoughtfully. Build Together.

Carola is proud to be endorsed by:

Zoe Royer, Member of Parliament for Port Moody–Coquitlam: “Carola Thompson is the kind of leader we need at the SD43 Board table.”

Patricia Gartland, former Superintendent of Schools for SD43, says: “I have always valued leaders who listen carefully, ask insightful questions, and work collaboratively — qualities Carola demonstrates naturally in both her professional and community roles.”

Navid Morawej, Founder of Parkland Players–Tri-Cities Daycare Centres, says: “Carola brings a valuable combination of experience as a parent, planner, business owner, and community advocate.”
