Roadwork and construction

These are roadwork and construction projects currently underway in Port Moody. The City oversees or coordinates this work, which may affect traffic in the area.

When: September 8-11, 2026
Work hours: 9:30am to 7pm
Location: Albert Street
Impact to you: Street parking will be restricted, and vehicle and bike traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating. Pedestrian movement will be prioritized. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists during construction.

When: September 8 to November 20, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: 100 Capilano Road
Impact to you: Street parking restrictions will be in effect in front of 100 Capilano Road during the work. The parking lane will be reopened after work hours. A pedestrian hoarding structure will be installed over the sidewalk to protect the public.

When: July 23 to September 30, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Where: City-Wide (Moody Centre)
Impact to you: Intermittent lane and parking lane closures for short-term work at utility manholes. Detailed Traffic Management Plans will be provided for work affecting major roadways. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: September 2-5, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: Falcon Drive, between Noons Creek Drive and the Coquitlam border
Impact to you: Traffic will be reduced to a single alternating lane during paving work. A lane shift will also be in place. Parking restrictions will be in effect on westbound Noons Creek Drive and Falcon Drive. Paving is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, from 7am to 7pm. The eastbound Falcon Drive bus stop at Noons Creek Drive (Stop #58989) will be closed during the work. Expect traffic delays. Traffic control personnel will be on site to help motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit users travel safely through the area.

When: August 31 to September 5, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: Garrow Drive
Impact to you: From August 31 to September 3, traffic will be reduced to single-lane alternating on Garrow Drive between Glencoe Drive and Foress Drive, and between Foress Drive and 979 Garrow Drive. On September 4, the road will be closed in sections for paving, with potential access restrictions. If work is not completed on September 4, crews may return on September 5 to finish the work. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

When: September 1 to October 2, 2026
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location:
1850 Ioco Road
Impact to you: Traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating at the work area, and parking restrictions will be in effect. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: June 1 to end of Summer 2026
Location: Between St. Johns Street and Brookmount Drive
Work hours: 7am to 3pm
Impact to you: Lane closures will occur one block at a time, with single-lane alternating traffic around work areas. There will also be partial closures of the west sidewalk, and pedestrians will be directed to use marked crossings. Parking will be restricted in active work zones, and access to side streets will be limited to local traffic only. Driveway access will be maintained throughout construction, and traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expect delays and plan alternate routes. When: September 9-11, 2026
Work hours: 9am to 3pm
Location: 2901 St. Johns Street
Impact to you: The parking lane and right lane on eastbound St. Johns Street will be closed, with traffic directed to merge into the left lane. Parking restrictions will be in effect. Traffic delays are expected. The sidewalk will be closed with a pedestrian detour in place around the work area. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists during construction.  

Park and trail construction

These are park and trail construction projects currently taking place in Port Moody. They may result in temporary closures or limited access to certain areas.

Construction on the new community fieldhouse is moving forward with completion anticipated for early Fall 2027. Please note the following impacts to the parking lot during construction:

Parking changes: Fencing will be installed around the project area which will block access to the mid‑section parking stalls. Vehicles will be able to enter the parking lot from both the east and west entrances, but travel through the work area will not be possible. Parking stalls will be designated for turnaround spaces. Please note that manoeuvring space will be tight.

EV chargers: Three out of nine EV chargers will remain available while the other six will be out of service. The three chargers will be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Impact to you: Traffic entering White Pine Beach parking lot entrance will be managed by traffic control persons. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

These are development projects led by private developers in Port Moody. They may cause traffic impacts or restricted access at certain times during construction.

Civil utilities upgrades

Now to October 3, 2026
Location:
Guildford Drive
Impact to you:
Closure of Guildford Drive west of Balmoral Drive (local traffic permitted). Sidewalk to remain open. Intermittent closure of the sidewalk on Ioco Road (east side). Intermittent closure of the pathway connecting Guildford Drive and Ioco Road. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: Now until September 25, 2026 (9am to 3pm)
Location:
Ioco Road northbound, between Suter Brook Way and Guildford Way
Impact to you: 
The bike lane and right lane on northbound Ioco Road and the east sidewalk on Ioco Road between Barnet Highway and Suter Brook Way will be intermittently closed during scheduled concrete pours. A temporary bike pathway will be created next to the work area. The Inlet Centre Station @ Bay 2 bus stop (Stop ID 61988) may be closed during the work. Transit riders will be redirected to the nearest open stop. The crosswalk at Suter Brook Way and Ioco Road will remain open during both closures. Driveway and business access will be maintained. Traffic delays are expected. Traffic control persons to be on site to assist cyclists and pedestrians. 

Material hauling and deliveries

Location:
161 Ioco Road
Impact to you:
Parking lane closure on east side of Balmoral Drive between Guildford Way and Guildford Drive. Trucks to enter and exit site through Balmoral Drive. Sidewalks to remain open. Traffic control persons will be on site at entrance and exit points and driveways to support with truck movements and traffic management.

Impact to you: Trucks will be accessing site through Golden Spike Lane. Street parking restrictions on Moray Street.

April 6 to September 30, 2026
Work: Multi-family Construction - Excavation - Phases 1,2,3
Location: Single lane alternating traffic along Angela Drive between Glenayre Drive and Cecile Drive, and on Glenayre Drive southbound at Angela Drive.  Parking will be restricted in the work areas. Driveway access will be maintained. Pedestrian detours in place around work areas, including the construction of a temporary crosswalk on Cecile Drive south of Angela Drive. Traffic control persons will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Expect traffic delays.

Location: 
110 James Road
Impact to you: Single lane alternating traffic on James Road. Street parking will be restricted along James Road to accommodate staging and turnarounds of concrete trucks. The east sidewalk on James Road will be temporary closed during the work, with traffic control persons assisting pedestrians across James Road. Traffic control persons will be onsite to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

When: August 31 to September 4, 2026

Location: 2334 St. Andrews Street
Impact to you: Street parking restrictions will be in effect, and Queens Street between St Johns Street and St Andrews Street will be intermittently closed to traffic throughout the week, with a full day closure occurring on August 31. Traffic control persons to be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
