2026 General Local Election: vote by mail or vote in person – there are lots of ways to cast your ballot

Vote by mail or vote in person – there are lots of ways to cast your ballot in Port Moody’s 2026 General Local and School Board Election, happening on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The City of Port Moody is holding a general local election to elect one mayor and six councillors for City Council and two school trustees for the School District 43 Board of Education. Elected individuals will serve a four-year term from November 2026 to October 2030. City councils and school boards make decisions on issues that directly affect you and your family, like utilities and roadwork, parks and recreation, community development, and the policies and budget for the local school district.

Vote by mail
All eligible Port Moody residents and non-resident property electors have the option to vote by mail. There are three steps to vote by mail: apply for a mail ballot (the application deadline is Friday, October 9, 2026 at 12:00pm), fill out your ballot using the instructions provided, and return it to us in one of the ways listed on our Voting by Mail Ballot web page. Completed mail ballots must be received by 8:00pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026 to be counted.
Vote in person
Advance voting
Vote in advance on Wednesday, October 7 or Saturday, October 10, 2026 in the Wellness Room at the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road) between 8:00am and 8:00pm.
General voting day
General voting day is Saturday, October 17, 2026. Vote at any one of these four locations between 8:00am and 8:00pm:
- Glenayre Community Centre (492 Glencoe Drive)
- Heritage Mountain Community Centre (200 Panorama Place)
- Kyle Centre (125 Kyle Street)
- Port Moody Recreation Complex gymnasium (300 Ioco Road)
All in-person voting locations are accessible for people using mobility devices.
The City of Port Moody uses the provincial voters list as the register of resident electors. If you are on the provincial voters list for Port Moody, you are already registered to vote in the Port Moody General Local Election. Check your mailbox and read all about it! A voter information package with information on ways to vote, key dates, where to look for election results, and a list of declared candidates has been sent by post to Port Moody households. Declared candidates had the option to contribute their own independently produced brochure to this package – please note that candidates’ brochures were not reviewed by the City of Port Moody prior to distribution.
