There are a variety of volunteer opportunities in the City. Becoming a volunteer is an excellent way to gain experience working with the public, it can teach you new skills, and you will make a difference in your community. 

Join a committee

Port Moody has a variety of different committees and boards with positions available for the general public. Review all of our committees and get involved in your local government.

Citizen Advisory Group

The Citizen Advisory Group (CAG) is made up of more than 250 Port Moody residents of all ages who volunteer their time to provide input on City issues. Council seeks feedback from the CAG on a variety of topics, from budgets and master plans to new City projects and community development. We are not accepting applications for the CAG at this time.

Volunteer in recreation 

We are now accepting applications for volunteers in recreation for 2024 summer day camps and volunteer activity hosts.

 In recreation programs and day camps - Applications are now closed for 2024 - thank you.
To volunteer in recreation programs and day camps you must:
  • Be at least 14 years old
  • Have your own email address
  • Be able to communicate regularly over email regarding training and scheduling
  • Be able to complete a police information check
  • Attend a group volunteer interview

Volunteer to host social activities or groups with recreation in Port Moody

We are looking for adults who want to give back to the community by hosting an activity or social group. If you have an idea you are passionate about, are inclusive and able to facilitate positive social interactions in a recreation setting, we want to hear from you.

Different types of activities or groups could include: 

  1. Casual Language Discussion Groups: Facilitate language learning by leading a social based discussion group to help community members practice or maintain a second language.  
  2. Photography Club: Bring together photography enthusiasts to explore the art of photography, share techniques, and capture the unique charm of Port Moody. 
  3. Board Game or Card Game Socials: Host board game or card game afternoons or evenings promoting friendly competition and camaraderie. 

Our current volunteers host activities such as: 

  • Tai Chi 
  • Bridge 
  • Canasta 
  • Ukulele 
  • Ballroom Dancing 

Join us in making a positive impact on our community through recreation and social connection. Your dedication as a volunteer activity host contributes to the vibrant and inclusive atmosphere we strive to create.
