Sustainable Development
The City’s commitment to sustainability applies to new developments within Port Moody. From step codes to report cards, there are requirements in place to build a healthy, thriving city.
The provincial government is aiming to get buildings net-zero-energy ready by 2032. Learn more about the BC Energy Step Code and Zero Carbon Step Code – and the related bylaw – that will help achieve this goal by increasing energy-efficiency requirements and reducing operational carbon in buildings.
Sustainability report cards are required for rezoning, heritage revitalization agreements, heritage alteration permits, and some development permit applications. Learn more about the performance measures and download the report card you need on the Sustainability Report Card page.
We've also put charging infrastructure requirements in place through the Zoning Bylaw for new residential and commercial developments. Electric vehicles provide a more sustainable alternative to vehicles powered by fossil fuel. To promote the use of electric vehicles, we're committed to installing public electric vehicle charging stations in key locations throughout the city.
