Traffic Calming and Safety

The City of Port Moody's Official Community Plan supports traffic calming devices for consideration in existing and proposed residential neighbourhoods when safety concerns arise from vehicles speeding, local short-cutting, and causing negative traffic impacts on residential streets. We work with our community before applying traffic calming measures.

We encourage you to review our Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Policy and report any traffic issues or safety concerns that you might have.

Traffic calming steps

A traffic calming initiative follows the steps outlined in our Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Policy.

Key steps include:

  • project Initiation
  • preliminary Screening
  • formation of Neighbourhood Advisory Committee
  • problem identification
  • plan development
  • measurement of local support
  • performance monitoring
