Roadwork and construction

These are roadwork and construction projects currently underway in Port Moody. The City oversees or coordinates this work, which may affect traffic in the area.

When: September 22 to October 31, 2025
Work hours: 9am to 3pm
Impact to you: There will be seven work areas along Barnet. Commuters can expect single lane alternating traffic on View Street and westbound curb lane closure. Barnet Highway will be reduced to one lane westbound throughout work areas. Traffic control will be on site to assist motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. 

When: October 1-2, 2025
Location: 2206 St Johns Street
Work hours: 9am-3pm
Impact to you: St Johns Street westbound curb lane will be closed to accommodate the construction area and all traffic will merge into the left travel lane through the construction area. Westbound right turn from St Johns Street onto northbound Douglas Street will be closed and detour will be in place to assist traffic needing to get onto Douglas Street. Traffic and bus delays are expected. 

When: September 15 to October 17, 2025
Work hours: 9am-3pm
Impact to you: Within Suter Brook Village, street parking will be restricted, and traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating. Only one sidewalk will be closed at a time. Expect long traffic delays. On Capilano Road there will be single lane alternating traffic. For works at Morrisey Road and Murray Street, the right turn lane onto Morrissey Road will be closed with right turn restrictions.

When: September 15-October 10, 2025
Work hours: 7am to 7pm
Location: Viewmount Drive, Viewmount Place, Taseko Lane
Impact to you: Closure of northbound and southbound lanes on Viewmount Drive from Dewdney Trunk Road to Viewmount Place, and full closure of Viewmount Drive between Viewmount Place and Fraser Street. Viewmount Place and Taseko Lane will also be closed. Closures will be completed in shorter sections as work progresses, with local traffic permitted when safe. Street parking will be restricted throughout all work areas. Expect traffic delays. Waste collection vehicles will be allowed access through the jobsite, and if access is temporarily blocked, crews will assist with moving bins to minimize delays for solid waste collection.

Park and trail construction

These are park and trail construction projects currently taking place in Port Moody. They may result in temporary closures or limited access to certain areas.

Hett Creek Trail bridge was heavily damaged during the November 2024 windstorm and in compliance with an engineering assessment, the bridge section will be closed until further notice. Trail users can detour via Wilkes Creek Trail. In addition to providing a pedestrian pathway, this bridge is also the primary support structure for a sewage pipe that is attached underneath. Restoring the bridge will require a contractor specialized in bridge construction and stabilization to ensure it meets current design codes. 

A structural engineering firm has been hired to develop a proposal to restore the bridge. The design is now more than halfway complete and is being reviewed by the City. View a map of the detour at portmoody.ca/trails

Development

These are development projects led by private developers in Port Moody. They may cause traffic impacts or restricted access at certain times during construction.

Developer: Bold Properties Ltd 
Impact to you: St. George Street will be reduced to single lane alternating to accommodate the staging area. 

Developer: Chroma 
Impact to you: Street parking will be restricted along the eastbound curb lane on St. John’s Street and southbound curb lane on Buller Street. Curb lane on St. John’s will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained in each direction on Buller Street. Traffic delays are expected.

Developer: MOSAIC Homes
Impact to you: Street parking will be restricted along the westbound curb lane, and traffic on Murray Street will be maintained in one lane in each direction. Traffic delays are expected.

Developer: Edgar Development Corp. 
Work: Multi-family Construction - Excavation - Phases 1,2,3
Location: Phase 1 - 296 Angela Drive, Phase 2 - 1209 Cecile Drive and Phase 3 - 1218 Cecile Drive  
Impact to you: Angela Drive will be fully closed between Glenayre Drive and Victory Drive on September 8, with traffic, including garbage trucks, redirected via Valour Drive and a temporary waste collection staging area set up east of Victory Drive. On September 11, a partial closure between Tuxedo Drive and 253 Angela Drive will allow single-lane alternating traffic through the work zone, causing significant delays. To reduce congestion, motorists are advised to use College Park Way for access and student drop-off at Seaview Community School. Traffic control personnel will be on site to assist drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Developer: Laidler Group – Dulex Enterprises
Impact to you: Parking lane closures on east and west side of James Road to accommodate truck movements out of development site. Driveway access to be maintained.

 

Developer: Marcon Projects
Location: Clarke Road and Albert Street
Impact to you: Minimal traffic disruptions are expected during underground utility installation, as one lane will remain open in each direction on Albert Street. No traffic pattern changes are planned for St. Johns Street or Barnet Highway.
