Community Report

The 2025 Fire Rescue Community Report outlines the department's mission, reports out on 2025 stats, and highlights the role of each division.

Fire Chief Darcey O'Riordan

I am pleased to present the Port Moody Fire Rescue 2025 Community Report. Throughout the year, our department continued to evolve to meet the growing and increasingly complex needs of the community, guided by a strong commitment to public safety and service excellence.

In 2025, Port Moody Fire Rescue responded to 1,958 emergency incidents, reflecting sustained demand for emergency services and reinforcing the critical role our firefighters play in protecting lives and property.

Training remained a cornerstone of operational readiness and firefighter safety. Port Moody Fire Rescue members completed 6,335 hours of training, including both core competencies and specialized skill development. This ongoing investment ensures our personnel remain highly skilled, adaptable, and prepared to respond to a wide range of emergencies.

We are grateful for the continued support of Mayor and Council, particularly the endorsement and implementation of the Port Moody Fire Master Plan. This plan provides a clear framework for responsibly scaling department staffing and resources to meet current and future service demands.

In 2025, the department also added a new Emergency Management Program Coordinator position. This role strengthens the City’s emergency readiness and resilience by increasing capacity in emergency management and Emergency Support Services, improving coordination, planning, and response during large scale or prolonged emergencies.

Port Moody Fire Rescue remains proud to serve with trust, integrity, service, and teamwork, and is committed to continuously improving to meet the evolving needs of the community.
