Knowing who to contact in an emergency can make all the difference. Whether it’s a life-threatening situation, a utility issue, or a concern about public safety, this page will help guide you to the right resources. Below you’ll find emergency and non-emergency contact information to help you get the support you need, and guidance on how to prepare for different situations.
Call for help
Phone 9.1.1 for a police, fire, or medical emergency when immediate action is required. This includes when you see downed power lines. Do not call 9.1.1 to get information about the situation.
For emergencies involving natural gas, call FortisBC at 1.800.663.9911.
For all other issues, use the non-emergency lines below.

Be prepared to evacuate or shelter in place
Depending on the location or nature of the emergency, you may be required to leave your home to go somewhere safer, or shelter-in-place, staying inside until things outside become safe again.
In the event of an evacuation, emergency officials will notify the public in a variety of ways, such as social media, loud‐speakers, sirens, or door knocking. Make sure you have your grab-and-go bags ready, and you know your personal plan for getting to safety.

Register with Emergency Support Services
The City of Port Moody's Emergency Support Services (ESS) team has arrangements with local partners to provide short-term supports to meet the basic needs of residents impacted by emergencies. To access these supports, you need to register with the ESS team. You can do this one of two ways:
- in person at a Reception Centre
- online through the Evacuee Registration and Assistance (ERA) portal
Even if you don’t require support, we recommend that you register with ESS so that emergency officials to know you are safe and accounted for.
Stay informed
During a disaster, accurate information is essential to make good decisions as the situation develops. In an emergency, the City of Port Moody website will have share important messaging on the homepage. The same information can also be found in the banner content at the top of each page. As the situation develops, City staff will update the information.
