Candidate nomination period opens for 2026 Port Moody General Local and School Board Election
The candidate nomination period is now open for the 2026 Port Moody General Local and School Board Election, happening on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The Chief Election Officer will receive nominations for the offices of mayor, councillor, and school trustee until 4:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2026.
A candidate nomination information package and nomination forms are available online at portmoody.ca/vote. Printed copies of nomination documents are also available upon request. Please email elections@portmoody.ca to request printed copies.
Completed nomination forms may be submitted in the following ways:
- in person at City Hall (100 Newport Drive);
- by mail to Chief Election Officer, Election Office, 100 Newport Drive, Port Moody, BC, V3H 5C3;
- by fax to 604-469-4550 (contact the Election Office to confirm transmission); or
- electronically by email to elections@portmoody.ca.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to make an appointment with the Chief Election Officer to submit nomination documents. This ensures that the Election Office can thoroughly review nomination documents at the time of submission, go over important election information, and answer questions. All nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2026. Nomination documents received after this deadline will not be accepted. Nomination documents that are incomplete or missing required information by the deadline will not be accepted.
Candidates must meet the following requirements at the time of their nomination to run for office in the 2026 General Local Election:
- be 18 years or older on General Voting Day (October 17, 2026);
- be a Canadian citizen;
- be a resident of B.C. for at least six months prior to the date of nomination; and
- not be disqualified by law.
