Recreation Inclusion

Access and Inclusion in Recreation

We are committed to making recreation accessible for everyone in our community. This includes financial assistance through the Leisure Access Program (see the dropdown below for details), and inclusion support for participants with disabilities who may need extra help to take part in programs.

Support for People with Disabilities

Participants who need additional support are welcome to bring their own support person to help them fully enjoy their recreation experience throughout the year. Families are encouraged to make these arrangements to ensure their loved ones feel confident and supported in our programs. For assistance or to confirm your arrangements, please email recreationinclusion@portmoody.ca at least two weeks before the program begins.

Each summer, we also work to provide support in our day camps for children and youth with disabilities who require extra assistance to be successful. Full details and registration steps for Summer 2026 will be shared in spring 2026, but here are a few important notes to help families plan ahead:

  • Priority: Port Moody residents receive priority for support.
  • Support availability: A limited number of support spots are available each week in summer.
  • Limits: Typically, each child or youth may receive up to one week of support.
  • Support types: Depending on needs, support may be one-on-one, shared, or volunteer-based.
  • Own support person: Families are welcome to provide their own support person with advance notice.
For questions about access and inclusion in recreation, please email recreationinclusion@portmoody.ca.
