Parking
Parking regulations ensure that there is consistent vehicle turnover and that pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and motorists are able to travel safely and efficiently on the road in the City of Port Moody.
The City of Port Moody's Bylaw Enforcement staff enforces our Street, Traffic & Public Places Bylaw.
You cannot park a motor vehicle for more than three hours, when adjacent to another person's residential property. We may mark or identify the vehicle to indicate if it has not been moved in three hours. Any vehicles parked beyond the three hours after being marked will be towed at the owner's expense.

Multi-Family Residential Parking Permit Program
If you live in a multi-family residential area near Inlet Centre Station or Moody Centre Station, you can apply for a parking permit through our Multi-Family Residential Parking Permit Program. The permit exempts your vehicle from the regular parking restriction (4 hour parking, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday) posted on street signs.
Please note that street parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and a permit does not guarantee you a parking spot.
How to apply / renew
Please fill out our online form. You will need to attach a photo of your driver's license with current address or an alternative form of identification. Once your address has been verified as eligible and the new pass or renewal has been processed, we will call you for a payment of $65.90.
Payment for multi-family parking permit
Once your application gets approved, you can pay one of three ways:
- Online — select Engineering and Building Permit Applications and enter your folder number
- In person — City Hall, second floor, Monday to Friday between 8:30am-5pm
- Mail a cheque — please include your Multi-Family Parking Permit folder number
Tag or sticker delivery
A tag or sticker will be mailed to your home after your application is approved and payment is received.
- If you are applying for a pass for the first time, we will send you a tag with a 2023 sticker.
- If you are renewing an existing pass, we will send you a 2023 sticker that will cover the previous year sticker on your existing pass.
The permit is valid from the date of purchase until December 31, 2023. There is a limit of one permit per household.
Make sure to display your parking permit hang-tag on your vehicle's rear-view mirror. You can transfer your parking permit hang-tag between vehicles.

Be aware of road users when exiting parked vehicles
The Dutch Reach
A driver opening their car door into the path of a cyclist or other road user can cause serious injury. The Dutch Reach is a simple technique that improves driver awareness and prevents "dooring" accidents. It involves using your hand furthest from the door to open it. This action forces your upper body and head to turn which makes it easier to get an unobstructed view of oncoming cyclists, pedestrians, and other vulnerable road users. The Fraser Health Authority provides both a video demonstration and simple instructions for the Dutch Reach.
