Bylaws and Policies

The City of Port Moody has bylaws and policies in place that establish standards of performance and service delivery and guide interaction between the City, the public, and other external entities. They are applicable to staff, elected officials, advisory body members, residents, and visitors to Port Moody.

City bylaws protect the environment and public health and maintain community safety and standards. A bylaw is an extension of the laws put in place at higher levels of government and serve to clarify but not contradict those laws. Visit the Bylaws page to browse bylaws, or to submit a complaint about a bylaw infraction, see Bylaw Enforcement.

Corporate Policies are approved by Council. They direct staff to strategically provide services and carry out legislative responsibilities, and they establish attitudes and intentions for shaping Port Moody. These policies communicate City priorities, set standards of performance and service delivery, and articulate principles of acceptable behaviour and action.
