Off-Leash Dog Parks

There are a number of areas in the city where your dog can have an off-leash adventure. To be off leash, your dog must be able to respond to your verbal commands, and remember, you are responsible for cleaning up all dog waste.

Off-leash areas

Dogs are allowed off leash in the following areas:

• Chines Park (Jane Street at Hugh Street)
• the wide gravel trail through Bert Flinn Park that starts near the roundabout at Heritage Mountain Boulevard and David Avenue (please note dogs must be on a leash on any trail beyond the gravel trail) (1300 David Avenue)
• the north end of Westhill Park (203 Westhill Place)
• the fenced dog run at Rocky Point Park (2900 Blk Murray Street, next to Slaughterhouse Creek)

Dogs are also welcome in specific off-leash areas at BC Hydro's Buntzen Lake Reservoir.

In all other areas of the city, dogs must be kept on a leash.

Areas where dogs are not permitted

Please note dogs (on leash or off) are not allowed on the beach at Old Orchard Park, or on Port Moody sports fields, running tracks, tennis courts, playgrounds, or spray parks. We ask you to respect these restrictions for the health and safety of the public and the protection of our sensitive habitat areas and local wildlife. Please see the Parks and Community Facilities Rules and Regulations Bylaw and the Animal Control Bylaw (BL2677-C) for more information.

Dog licences

If your dog is four months or older, you’ll need to purchase a dog licence and renew it every year. Read our Animal Control Bylaw to learn more.
