As residents of Port Moody, we have a shared responsibility to support local wildlife during the winter while managing rodent issues. Keeping your yard a bit wild can be a lifeline for small creatures, as leaf piles and plant debris offer crucial shelter. On the other hand, ensure your home is secure against wildlife seeking indoor shelter by minimizing food sources and sealing any openings. Avoid rodenticides, as they can harm non-target wildlife and pets. Remember, feeding wildlife is not only illegal under local bylaws and the BC Wildlife Act, but it also poses safety risks by attracting rodents and larger predators.
