The community is invited to join Mayor and Council on Saturday, September 13, 2025 as we celebrate the official opening of the new Shoreline Trail boardwalk with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Shoreline Trail Boardwalk Official Opening Celebration
Date: Saturday, September 13, 2025
Time: 10am

Where: Gather at the junction of the Trasolini Field connector trail and the new Shoreline Trail boardwalk (see map). The boardwalk will be closed until the event concludes. To reach the junction, please use the Trasolini Field connector trail. Enter the connector trail from the Shoreline Trail multi-use path or at the railway crossing located behind the Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road).

On September 13, following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the full length of the new boardwalk will be open from Murray Street to Noons Creek – this includes Phase 1 between Murray Street and Suter Brook Creek, and Phase 2 between Suter Brook Creek and Noons Creek.

Through the now-completed Shoreline Trail Boardwalk Replacement Project, the City has replaced 440 metres of boardwalk, bridge, and gravel trail located in Pigeon Cove at the end of Burrard Inlet’s Port Moody Arm. The project also included the construction of a new viewing platform located roughly midway along the boardwalk. The viewing platform, a collaborative project with In the Presence of Ancestors, is the site of a new house post carved by artists from səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) in partnership with q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie First Nation) community members including q̓ic̓əy̓ Chief Grace George. The Shoreline Trail Boardwalk Replacement Project received funding from the Government of Canada ($495,000 for Phase 1) through its Pacific Economic Development Agency (PacifiCan) and the Government of B.C. ($3.05 million for Phase 2) through its Growing Communities Fund.
