Recreation Complex to re-open for limited use on Monday, November 16, 2020

Out of an abundance of caution, and to provide time to receive clarity with respect to the Provincial Health Officer’s November 7 orders as they relate to group physical activities, the City of Port Moody announced on November 9, 2020 that the Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road) would be closed and all recreation programs cancelled through November 23, 2020. After reviewing both the orders and our COVID-19 safety plans for civic facilities, and after a discussion with our regional medical health officer, we have determined we are able to re-open the Recreation Complex on November 16, 2020 for ice arena user groups, weight room use and personal training services, and Early Learners Outdoor Playschool. 

All other recreation programs remain cancelled and City Hall (100 Newport Drive) remains closed through November 23, 2020. City staff continue to deliver services and are readily available by email or phone to assist the public. 

Your safety, and the safety of our employees, is our top priority. All visitors to the Recreation Complex will be required to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment form before entering the facility. To help keep everyone safe, visitors are expected to wear a face mask when entering/exiting the building, while walking through the lobby and hallways, and at any other time when physical distance can’t be maintained. Special measures are in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 including extra cleaning of indoor areas. 

The City has taken a number of steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 while working to maintain core services. We’re continuously monitoring information about COVID-19 coming from public health authorities, and will make decisions about City services, programs, and facilities with the health and safety of our residents and our employees in mind.
