City Manager Tim Savoie presented Port Moody’s 2018 Annual Report to members of Council at the June 25, 2019 Regular Meeting of Council.
“In 2018, City staff made significant progress in achieving the objectives outlined in the Council Strategic Plan,” said City Manager Tim Savoie. “I’m proud to lead such a talented and hard-working team. Throughout the year, staff demonstrated their commitment to customer service and public safety, and brought people together to celebrate Port Moody’s sense of community.”
The City publishes an annual report each year in accordance with British Columbia’s Community Charter. The report contains the City’s financial statements, an independent auditor’s report, and a comprehensive statistical analysis; it also details how the City performed against its goals and objectives, as stated in the Council Strategic Plan, and highlights the achievements of each City department.
“The City works hard to deliver services and programs that provide the best value for your tax dollars and make our community a better place to live and work,” said Acting Mayor Meghan Lahti. “In 2018, we focused on what matters most: our people and our natural environment. We developed affordable housing policies, such as the Rental Protection Policy and the Tenant Relocation Assistance Policy, responded to environmental incidents, planted Naturescape plants on City lands, supported volunteers in the removal of invasive plant species, and more.
"I encourage Port Moody residents and business owners to read the 2018 Annual Report,” continued Lahti, “to see how Council and City staff are working hard to maintain and improve the amazing quality of life that we all enjoy here in the City of the Arts.”
The 2018 Annual Report highlights a number of important statistics and achievements. For example, City staff:
- helped 18,081 people register for recreational programs;
- scanned 168,761 fitness membership cards;
- issued 22 filming permits;
- increased the number of electric vehicle charging stations in the City from five to 12 and upgraded existing stations;
- planted 2,000 square metres of City lands with Naturescape plants;
- hosted six major community events;
- engaged with our residents and businesses to obtain their input on 12 different topics;
- supported 14 special events and festivals organized by community groups; and
- responded to more than 1,350 fire/rescue incidents.
