Port Moody Fire Rescue ends temporary ban on outdoor cooking in City parks and forests

Port Moody Fire-Rescue has lifted a temporary ban on the use of outdoor cooking and warming appliances of any kind in City parks, forested lands, and public green spaces.

The ban was announced on July 22, 2021, in response to the elevation of the fire hazard rating to “extreme” during a period of dry and warm weather. Currently, the fire hazard rating is “high.” Port Moody Fire-Rescue maintains a four-step fire hazard rating with signage displayed at the northwest corner of Ioco Road and Murray Street. You can also visit portmoody.ca/firerescue anytime to check the current fire hazard rating.

Residents and visitors are reminded that smoking is not permitted in City parks at any time, and open fires are banned year-round within Port Moody’s municipal boundaries.
