Port Moody closes all recreation facilities in parks
March 22, 2020 - Effective immediately, the City of Port Moody is closing all public recreational facilities in parks including basketball courts, tennis courts, skate parks, bike parks, and sports fields. City staff will be installing signage to inform the public of the closures throughout the day. Parks and trails remain open but residents are urged to maintain physical distancing by staying 2 metres apart and avoiding large gatherings.
In addition to physical distancing, the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, says the best way to protect yourself and your family is to:
- wash your hands often, for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water
- avoid touching your face
- cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
- avoid others who are unwell
- stay home when you’re sick.
The City is continuously monitoring information about COVID-19 coming from public health authorities, and makes decisions about City services, programs, and facilities with the health and safety of its residents in mind. Visit portmoody.ca/covid19 to stay up-to-date on impacts to City services.
