Port Moody celebrates the arrival of the CP Holiday Train with activities for all ages

The City of Port Moody is hosting family-friendly activities on December 18, 2022 from 2pm to 5:30pm to celebrate the arrival of the CP Holiday Train.

The celebration kicks off with live music and a roaring bonfire behind the Port Moody Recreation Complex. Join us for a holiday skate on the ice, play time in the gym, and spin art in the Rec Complex Wellness Room. Decorate cookies and visit with Santa Claus in the Civic Centre Galleria! Or meet Pigeon and Port Moody Public Library staff as they Celebrate the Season at the Inlet Theatre.

“On behalf of City Council, I’d like to invite residents and visitors to celebrate with us as we welcome the CP Holiday Train to Port Moody,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “This is a holiday tradition that we are so glad to see returning this year. It’s not only a chance to have fun with family and friends, but also a wonderful opportunity to think about others in our community who may need a helping hand. In the spirit of holiday giving, we ask everyone to consider bringing a donation for local families in need. SHARE Family and Community Services will be gratefully accepting cash or healthy food items, and your generous donations will stay right here in the Tri-Cities.”

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:

Bonfire and holiday music

2-5pm, behind the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road)

Between 2pm and 5pm, cozy up next to a roaring bonfire, listen to live music, and grab a cup of hot chocolate, a bowl of chili, or a hot dog (by donation). Our entertainment line-up is Jada McKenzie-Moore from 2-2:45pm, Newport Brass from 3-3:45pm, and École Moody Middle School of the Arts Choir from 4-4:30pm. Stop by the Port Moody Police cruiser to drop off your cash or food donations for SHARE Family and Community Services.

CP Holiday Train

At 4:45pm, the CP Holiday Train will roll into Port Moody! Watch the big arrival and then get ready to sing along with Mackenzie Porter and Virginia to Vegas from 5 to 5:30pm. Decked out in thousands of lights, the CP Holiday Train travels across Canada during the holiday season to raise food and cash donations for local food banks.
