Join us at a Seaview neighbourhood workshop to provide input on the Official Community Plan

How will Port Moody’s Seaview neighbourhood evolve over the next 30 years? We invite you to join us at a Seaview neighbourhood workshop on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm at Glenayre Community Centre (492 Glencoe Drive). This workshop is part of Port Moody 2050, our process to gather public input and draft updates to the City of Port Moody’s Official Community Plan. Visit Engage Port Moody, our online public engagement hub, to learn more and register to participate.

At the workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to learn about proposed key directions for Official Community Plan (OCP) updates and engage in roundtable discussions on topics of interest as they relate to the Seaview neighbourhood. Topics may include:

  • neighbourhood character;
  • community amenities;
  • parks and open space;
  • transportation and mobility;
  • housing; and
  • economic development.

Please visit the Port Moody 2050 project page at engage.portmoody.ca to register for the March 4 workshop.

The proposed key directions for OCP updates have been informed by public input received during previous engagement opportunities. At Engage Port Moody, you can find out what we heard from the community when we asked for feedback on:

  • the vision and goal statements in the 2014 Official Community Plan (read the public engagement summary for community survey #1);
  • key themes and topics identified by people who participated in early phases of engagement (read the public engagement summary for community survey #2); and
  • land use scenarios for the Moody Centre TOD Area, Oceanfront District, Murray Street, and Seaview (read the public engagement summary for community survey #3).

From the outset of the Port Moody 2050 project, Seaview was identified as a neighbourhood requiring more focused study to help re-imagine how this area could evolve. Although community survey #3 on land use scenarios, conducted in June/July 2022, presented four scenarios for the Seaview neighbourhood for consideration, responses were mixed with no clear preference emerging. The March 4 workshop will give participants an opportunity to dive deeper into their vision for the neighbourhood and engage in meaningful dialogue on Seaview’s future. Your input will inform Council’s decision-making as they consider proposed updates to the Official Community Plan.

Port Moody’s OCP is our long-term vision for the future, a living document that’s shaped by the people who live here. This plan is important because it communicates our values and guides us as we make decisions about how we use land for housing, transportation, parks, environmental protection, economic development, and more.
