2021 Annual Report highlights achievements connected to Council Strategic Plan objectives

City Manager Tim Savoie presented Port Moody’s 2021 Annual Report to members of Council at the June 28, 2022 Regular Council Meeting. 

The City publishes an annual report each year in accordance with British Columbia’s Community Charter. The report contains the City’s financial statements, an independent auditor’s report, and a comprehensive statistical analysis; it also details how the City performed against its goals and objectives, as stated in the 2019-2022 Council Strategic Plan, and highlights the achievements of each City department. 

The 2021 Annual Report highlights a number of important statistics and achievements. For example, City staff:

• launched significant development applications for public input on Engage Port Moody;
• restored more than 2,500 m² of habitat through invasive plant removal and replanting of native species;
• implemented increased pedestrian clearance time at 15 intersections and advanced-walk timing at nine new locations to improve accessibility and walkability;
• clerked 136 Council meetings, 132 committee meetings, and handled 56 requests for City records filed under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
• responded to 1,330 fire/rescue incidents, including 307 fire calls, 663 medical incidents, and 100 motor vehicle incidents;
• received 7,110 calls for police services, including 469 emergency in-progress calls;
• loaned 459,751 physical items and 102,921 electronic items for a total of 562,672 checkouts from the Port Moody Public Library;
• used 30 per cent recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) in our annual paving program, saving around 525 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions - the equivalent of 161 cars driving for a year;
• worked on developing an inclusionary zoning policy that will require below-market rental units in all multi-family developments seeking additional density; and
• replaced the Recreation Complex Arena Chiller and upgraded the ammonia detection system to protect the safety of arena users, staff, and nearby residents.
