The City of Port Moody will use Alertable notification system to deliver urgent information and instructions during emergencies – sign up today to receive alerts

Effective immediately, the City of Port Moody will use the Alertable notification system to deliver urgent information directly to residents, businesses, and visitors during critical emergencies. Visit portmoody.ca/alertable to learn more and sign up to receive free emergency alerts directly to your mobile phone through the app, or by phone call, text message, or email, to help you stay safe during emergencies such as wildfires, floods, landslides, earthquakes, or hazardous material spills.
“Alertable is an opt-in emergency notification service used by provincial governments, cities, towns, First Nations communities, health care organizations, and schools across Canada,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “During an emergency, we want Port Moody residents and businesses to receive clear information and safety instructions as quickly as possible. Alertable is free, fast, and easy to use. Information and instructions sent via Alertable will not replace standard emergency notification methods such as website alerts, social media posts, traditional and electronic signage, and door knocking. It’s an additional tool to help us reach more people in a shorter amount of time, in situations where every second counts. I encourage you to sign up today to help keep you and your loved ones safe.”
Alertable notifications share critical information that let you know:
- what the emergency is
- where the emergency is occurring
- how to stay safe
- when the event is over or new information is available
In addition to notifications from the City of Port Moody, Alertable provides other geographically relevant alerts from sources like:
Please note that Alertable and BC Emergency Alerts, managed by the Government of B.C., are not the same. You must opt in to receive notifications through Alertable. For BC Emergency Alerts, you do not need to sign up and it is not possible to opt out. As an emergency notification for a specific event may not be provided by both notification systems, it is recommended that you sign up for Alertable to ensure you don’t miss out on urgent local information. Alertable will display relevant BC Emergency Alerts for your location unless you change your settings.
Alertable is a made-in-Canada mass notification system that provides a variety of options including text, email, phone, website, mobile app, social media, home smart speaker, and more.
