Port Moody celebrates National Indigenous History Month with cultural activities and experiences in June

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize the heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples in Canada. Throughout the month, the City of Port Moody and community partners like PoMoArts will be celebrating with a variety of cultural activities and experiences. There is no cost to participate, and everyone is welcome. Please note that some activities require advance registration.
“In June, we celebrate the rich history and vitality of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures and communities in Canada, and all Indigenous Peoples worldwide,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “I invite you to consider the ways in which you can honour and learn about the cultures and contributions of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, and to participate in one or more of the cultural activities and experiences happening locally in June. Port Moody sits on the Traditional Territory of several Coast Salish Nations. We are grateful for their stewardship of these lands, waters, and skies, and acknowledge the generosity of these Nations in continuing to share their teachings and culture with the broader community.”
In celebration of National Indigenous History Month, the City of Port Moody is proud to present the following cultural activities and experiences in June:
