Adopt a tree in your neighbourhood to help grow our urban forest

Adopt a Tree! Port moody dot ca slash adopt a tree

Help us increase tree canopy cover in Port Moody’s neighbourhoods – apply for a new, City-owned street tree to be planted near your property. Through our Adopt a Tree Program, residents can adopt and care for a tree that’s planted on a public boulevard. Check eligibility requirements and apply online at portmoody.ca/adoptatree. Application approval and final site suitability will be confirmed by City staff.

Participating residents will be asked to sign an Adopt a Tree Care Pledge, making a commitment to care for a City-owned street tree for the first few years. The City will plant the tree in the fall (between October and December) and provide everything needed for early care, including a watering bag and care instructions. Residents are asked to help water and monitor the tree to support its healthy establishment.

Trees bring a variety of benefits from creating shade and wildlife habitat to improving water and air quality. This program helps us build climate resilience at the neighbourhood level and foster a sense of community stewardship, as we all have a role to play in maintaining healthy and liveable neighbourhoods. Apply to adopt a tree today.
