Property Taxes and Utility Fees

Visit Paying Your Property Taxes to learn about payments, grants, deferment, and changing your address. You can register with MyPortMoody to receive paperless tax notices as soon as they're available, review your property tax information, and view historical bills. Make sure you have your email address, account information number, and access code ready, which you can find on any of your past bills.

Your utility bill covers water and sewer services, along with recycling, green waste, glass and garbage collection. Utility rates are set annually and reflect the fees needed to cover the cost of delivering these essential utility services. Visit Paying Your Utility Bill, read our newsletter, or review our Fees Bylaw for current utility rates.

Each year, utility bills are due in February and property taxes are due in July. These two statements are split to:

  • allow for more transparency and clarity on the specific cost of services covered in each statement;
  • account for differences in how these costs are calculated: utility fees are directly linked to consumption and service usage, whereas property taxes are linked to assessed property value; and
  • meet billing requirements for other agencies – some residents pay their property taxes through their mortgage company, and mortgage companies do not pay for utility fees. For those who defer their property taxes, the Province of BC will not defer utility fees.
