Water main flushing starts Mar. 3 in Heritage Woods, Heritage Mountain, Noons Creek neighbourhoods

watermain flushing

The City is flushing water mains in the Heritage Woods, Heritage Mountain, and Noons Creek neighbourhoods starting Monday, March 3, 2025. This work will take approximately eight weeks to complete. You may experience temporary discolouration, pressure fluctuations, and sediment in the water reaching your home or business. If this occurs, run cold water in a bathtub or other large fixture until the water begins to clear up. These conditions should only happen for a short time and do not pose a health hazard. Call Operations at 604.469.4574 for more information.

The City conducts uni-directional flushing to maintain a high level of water quality in the distribution system. Uni-directional flushing involves strategically closing valves and opening fire hydrants in sections of the distribution system to attain high water velocities in target water mains. This process uses less water and cleans the interior wall of the water main more effectively than other flushing methods.
