Statement from Mayor's Office on passing of former Port Moody City Councillor Ann Hulbert

Ann Hulbert, a former City of Port Moody councillor and Freedom of the City Award recipient, has passed away at the age of 84. On behalf of Council, City staff, and residents, I offer deepest condolences to Ms. Hulbert’s family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched during her many years of service to the community. Flags have been lowered at civic facilities to honour Ms. Hulbert and her positive impact on the city.

A long-time resident of Port Moody, Ms. Hulbert was a city councillor for 21 years. During her time on Port Moody Council, she was passionate about the environment and extensively involved with the Mossom Creek Hatchery and Burrard Inlet Marine Enhancement Society. Ms. Hulbert was an active member of various local and international committees and organizations, including the Rotary Club of Port Moody, where she was a dedicated volunteer for many years.

Ms. Hulbert received the Freedom of the City award, the highest honour that Port Moody can bestow, in 2003. Read more about her life and achievements at portmoody.ca/freedomofthecity.

Date: Saturday, October 18
Time: 10:30am to 12pm
Location: ceremony at Inlet Theatre with reception to follow in the Galleria (100 Newport Drive)

Flags at civic facilities will remain lowered through September 22, 2025. They will be raised for two weeks alongside Every Child Matters flags, in recognition of the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, then lowered again through October 19, 2025.
