Statement from Mayor’s Office regarding Special Council meeting to reconsider a motion

Mayor Meghan Lahti has issued the following statement regarding a Special Council Meeting to be held online on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 4:30pm:
I have convened a Special Council Meeting out of an abundance of caution in response to a question that has been raised regarding the separation and validity of a motion passed during the October 22, 2024 Regular Council Meeting. The motion pertained to agenda item 12.3, Rezoning and OCP Amendment (TOD) – 60 Williams Street and 3006-3022 Spring Street (PCI Developments). It is of utmost importance that we uphold the integrity of the decision-making process and ensure there are no undue delays for the applicant involved.
I take the question that has been raised seriously and believe that holding this special meeting will allow us to address it transparently and efficiently. Our goal is to support applicants within the development application process and ensure that it is a fair process for all parties involved.
Members of the public can watch a livestream of the meeting online at portmoody.ca/watchlive. The agenda for the Special Council Meeting will be available by 4:30pm today at portmoody.ca/meetings.
