Port Moody Public Library Board welcomes new director of library services

The Port Moody Public Library Board is pleased to announce that Marc Saunders will be the new director of library services, effective March 19, 2018.

Saunders will leave his current role as chief executive officer of the Barrie Public Library, where he was responsible for two library branches serving more than 142,000 residents. Saunders has more than 17 years of experience in B.C. public libraries; his previous roles include library director at Grand Forks Public Library, public services manager at Prince George Public Library, and director of libraries for the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Library System.

“We are excited to welcome Marc to the Port Moody Public Library,” says Dave Zille, acting library board chair. “With his experience and expertise in public library services and excellent leadership skills, Marc will be a great asset to our Library. He will support the Library Board in several key areas including the development of our new strategic plan.”

"I am very excited for the opportunity the Port Moody Library Board has given me," says Saunders. "I look forward to working with the Board and staff to realize the great potential that the library has to offer and build on its tradition of great service."

Saunders completed his Master of Library and Information Science degree at the University of Western Ontario and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. In his new role, Saunders will lead the Port Moody Public Library team in delivering a broad range of library services that respond to the varied needs of our community.
