Port Moody invites you to celebrate Canada Day with music and crafts at Rocky Point Park
Join us for great music, family fun, and creative crafts as Port Moody celebrates Canada Day on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Rocky Point Park (2800 block of Murray Street) as part of the Golden Spike Days Festival. Admission to the festival is by donation.
From 10am to 5pm, enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities at Pop-Up City Hall. Play sports and games with our energetic Recreation staff and grab some I Love Port Moody swag. Get creative in the City of the Arts and design a button, magnet, or spin art. Enter to win a summer fun gift basket filled with items from local businesses. We’ll also be handing out cookies – stop by for your sugar fix while supplies last.
At 1pm, Port Moody’s Mayor and Council celebrate Canada on the PCT Performance Stage with a community ceremony that includes local entertainment. Singer-songwriter Elizabeth Irving will entertain the crowd with a mix of original and cover songs, and then lead the singing of “O Canada.”
At 8:30pm, the City presents 54-40 as the headline performer at the Golden Spike Days Festival. Whether they’re playing old favourites like “I Go Blind” and “Ocean Pearl” or newer songs like “Sucker for Your Love” or “’Embassy Supreme,” 54-40 is sure to entertain you. The band has been recording and performing for more than 40 years, leaving their mark on the Canadian cultural landscape. Don’t miss this exciting show at the PCT Performance Stage.
Parking at Rocky Point Park will be extremely limited. Overflow parking will be available at Inlet Park (3024 Murray Street), Moody Elementary School (2717 St. Johns Street), and the Moody Centre Station Park and Ride (2916 Spring Street – this is a pay parking lot). Please consider leaving your car at home – you will be helping to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion. Walk, bike (the Golden Spike Days Festival is offering a bike valet service) or take public transit instead and join your friends and neighbours at the park to celebrate Canada Day.
