Port Moody Fire Rescue responds to fire at Reed Point Marina

Port Moody Fire Rescue responded to a fire at Reed Point Marina on Barnet Highway in Port Moody shortly after midnight on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The fire was struck at approximately 3:00 a.m. Four pleasure craft were significantly impacted by the fire; two vessels sunk at their moorage and two sustained significant damage. A number of other vessels and docks sustained moderate damage.

The Canadian Coast Guard was notified immediately and is assessing any potential environmental impact. Reed Point Marina initiated emergency response protocols to contain any leeching contaminants. At this time, the cause of the fire is undetermined and an investigation is ongoing.
