Nominate your favourite Port Moody businesses for a 2023 Spike Business Award

The City of Port Moody is accepting nominations for the 2023 Spike Business Awards. Tell us about your favourite Port Moody businesses by October 4, 2023. 

“The Spike Business Awards help us shine a light on the innovation, advocacy, and leadership shown by the members of our business community,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “Their remarkable efforts contribute to Port Moody’s liveability year-round, and this is our chance to celebrate their achievements and the positive difference they make in the lives of our residents and visitors. Please take a few minutes to go online and nominate the businesses that have made a lasting impression on you.” 

One award winner will be selected in each of the following five categories: 

• Arts in Business – celebrates a business or organization that has significantly contributed to the Port Moody’s arts community through innovative programs or partnerships, arts integration, arts advocacy, employee engagement, and/or philanthropy;
• Environmental Leadership – recognizes a Port Moody business or organization that excels in environmental efforts that incorporate waste and resource reduction, energy efficiency improvements, greenhouse gas reductions, and fostering green jobs, services, and products by demonstrating successful pathways for others to follow;
• Inclusive Excellence – celebrates a Port Moody business or organization that has successful initiatives to create a more diverse workplace for people of all backgrounds;
• New Business – recognizes a business operating in Port Moody for more than one year and less than three years that has enjoyed business success, has a clear future vision, and demonstrates excellence in management, service, and integrity; and
• Young Entrepreneur – celebrates a young entrepreneur 35 years old or under with a business in Port Moody who exemplifies entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, business success, and commitment to the community. 

Fill out a nomination form online or pick up a paper copy at City Hall (100 Newport Drive). 

We also want to hear directly from our local business community. We are encouraging owners and employees to self-nominate for our Business of the Year award. Tell us about your growth, customer service, and commitment to the community. This is an opportunity to showcase the phenomenal work you’ve done in another challenging year.  

The Spike Business Awards celebrate the contribution of small businesses to the local community. Award winners will be recognized at a gala event on November 30, 2023 during B.C. Buy Local Week. 

Winners are selected by the City's Economic Development and Tourism Committee. Businesses must have a valid Port Moody business licence to be eligible to win. Please visit portmoody.ca/spikeawards for more information on the award categories and nomination process.
