May 1 to 7, 2022 is Emergency Preparedness Week - be ready & enter to win an emergency kit
May 1 to 7, 2022 is Emergency Preparedness Week in B.C. The City of Port Moody and Port Moody Fire Rescue are encouraging residents to be ready for anything. Visit the City’s website to learn how to prepare for an emergency and enter online for a chance to win a four-person, three-day emergency kit valued at approximately $165 and a folding shovel valued at $16.
“Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility, I encourage every Port Moody resident, business and community organization to be proactive and prepared," says Port Moody Fire Chief Darcey O’Riordan. "Simple and important steps like understanding the risks, planning ahead, and preparing a 72-hour emergency kit will keep your family safe in the event of a natural disaster or major emergency.”
You can find a variety of useful emergency preparedness information all in one place, at portmoody.ca/emergency. Read about the risks for our region, and download helpful planning guides, such as PreparedBC’s Household Emergency Plan template, Household Preparedness Guide, and Neighbourhood Preparedness Guide. PreparedBC guides are also available at Inlet Centre Fire Hall (150 Newport Drive) and the Port Moody Public Library (100 Newport Drive).
From May 2 to 13, 2022, you can enter for a chance to win a four-person, three-day emergency kit – simply fill out an entry form online at portmoody.ca/emergency. There is a limit of one entry per person; you must be a Port Moody resident, 19 years of age or older, to enter and be eligible to win.
The winner will be selected via a random draw to receive a deluxe emergency survival kit containing essentials such as: food and water rations, face masks, emergency blankets, AM/FM radio, Emergency Preparedness Guide and a folding shovel.
Emergency Preparedness Week encourages Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies. This special week is a national effort of provincial and territorial emergency management organizations, and Public Safety Canada.
