Inlet Park Redevelopment Project to create versatile recreation space for the community

Work is expected to begin in summer 2022 on the Inlet Park Redevelopment Project, which will transform the park into a versatile recreation facility and community space for all to enjoy.

We’ll be replacing the existing gravel field at Inlet Park (3024 Murray Street) with a high-quality, all-weather, artificial turf surface. Additional improvements will include:

  • three smaller "Super 8" soccer pitches with wide end zones and sidelines suitable for younger players;
  • FIFA-regulation field for adult soccer games;
  • two baseball and softball diamonds;
  • batting cages;
  • children's playground; and
  • additional parking spaces.

This project has a budget of approximately $6.2 million. The City is investing $1.7 million and the provincial and federal governments recently announced a funding contribution of $4.5 million through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. We anticipate that a new fieldhouse facility will also be a part of this project, pending future funding.

Advance work and site preparation will start in summer 2022. Field construction is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

The City is grateful to the provincial and federal governments for contributing funds to this project, and to the community groups that have engaged with us over the past few years and provided their valuable input on this project: Burke Mountain Naturalists, Burrard Inlet Marine Enhancement Society, Coquitlam Moody Minor Baseball, Port Moody Ecological Society, Port Moody Rotary Club, and Port Moody Soccer Club.
