Help us build a vision for age-friendly recreation in Port Moody
What types of programs and services for older adults are most needed in Port Moody? How could we potentially adapt or design facilities or spaces to meet the needs of our older community members? We want to hear from you as we develop an Age-Friendly Recreation Facility Study that will guide City staff and Council in future planning and decision making. Visit engage.portmoody.ca to fill out an online survey today.
The Study will build on previous work such as Port Moody’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan and our Age-Friendly Assessment and Action Plan, and will help us ensure our recreation programs, services, and facilities are age-friendly. Recreation is age-friendly when it includes opportunities that are tailored to the needs of older adults, so they can stay active, healthy, and involved in their community.
Engage Port Moody, our public engagement hub, is your source for information and the place where you can get involved. Visit the Age-Friendly Recreation Facility Study page to learn more about the project and take our community survey today. Questions focus on personal and community needs, as well as your perspective on any gaps in services and barriers to participation. This survey is for you if you are:
- aged 50+;
- supporting an aging parent or friend; or
- a professional caregiver working with older people in our community.
Fill out our online form or pick up a paper survey at City Hall (100 Newport Drive) and submit by May 2, 2022. Your input will inform the findings and recommendations in the Study and will be shared with City Council in June/July 2022.
Please note the City has not allocated any funds for construction of a new facility or renovation of existing facilities. After the Age-Friendly Recreation Facility Study has been finalized, next steps might include an exploration of potential funding opportunities such as grants or partnerships. If you have any questions about this project, please email recreation@portmoody.ca.
