Looking for a way to get involved in your community? Whether you’re a youth, a senior, or in between, your views matter – join a civic committee to help guide decisions on arts, climate action, parks, and more. Port Moody’s civic committees (also known as advisory bodies of Council) advise City Council on a wide variety of important topics and issues. Help shape Port Moody’s future by sharing your unique perspective and working collaboratively with a diverse group of people. New in 2025, most committees now have a Youth Seat – if you’re between 15 and 25 years old, we encourage you to apply to represent youth in our community.

Applications are currently being accepted for the nine civic committees listed below. Of the nine, all have a Youth Seat except for the Board of Variance and Land Use Committee.

1. Arts, Culture, and Heritage Committee (including Youth Seat)
   The Arts, Culture, and Heritage Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on issues related to Port Moody’s arts, cultural, and heritage resources in an effort to align these important areas for the benefit of the City of the Arts.
2. Board of Variance
   The Board of Variance listens to public appeals about the strict application of certain local government provisions and regulations. This includes building and development applications.
3. Climate Action Committee (including Youth Seat)
   The Climate Action Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on ways in which the City can achieve carbon neutrality in corporate operations, and community energy and emission programs for residents and businesses, specifically through the reduction of GHG emissions.
4. Economic Development and Tourism Committee (including Youth Seat)
   The Economic Development and Tourism Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on strategic economic and tourism development directions and related matters.
5. IDEA Committee (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) (including Youth Seat)
   The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility issues, strategies, and initiatives.
6. Land Use Committee
   The Land Use Committee provides Council and the General Manager of Community Development with comments and advice on proposed land use changes.
7. Parks and Environment Committee (including Youth Seat)
   The Parks and Environment Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on parks, recreation, and environmental issues.
8. Seniors Focus Committee (including Youth Seat)
   The Seniors Focus Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on seniors’ issues, strategies, and initiatives.
9. Transportation Committee (including Youth Seat)
   The Transportation Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on traffic and transportation issues and priorities.
