Data entry error leads to lack of purple lights at City Hall for International Women’s Day

Port Moody City Hall

On March 8, 2024, as approved by Council, the dome of Port Moody’s City Hall building was meant to be lit up in purple in recognition of International Women’s Day. The dome lights are automated, switching on and off automatically according to a pre-set schedule. Regrettably, though the purple lights were indeed programmed for that evening, due to a data entry error the lights were not switched on for the full scheduled time on March 8.

We apologize for the error and acknowledge the significance of International Women’s Day, which celebrates women’s achievements and promotes gender equality.

We light up the dome of Port Moody City Hall in support and recognition of various causes, events, and holidays throughout the year. The coloured dome lights are turned on and off for pre-set dates and times according to a Council-approved schedule, which can be found at portmoody.ca. We will make every effort to ensure the lighting schedule is maintained accurately in future.
