City of Port Moody to present Canadian band Big Sugar at Golden Spike Days Festival

The City of Port Moody and the Golden Spike Days Society are pleased to announce Canadian roots rock reggae band Big Sugar will be the headline performer for Canada Day celebrations at the Golden Spike Days Festival in Rocky Point Park. The show will take place on Sunday, June 30, 2019, as Canada Day (July 1) falls on a Monday this year.

Big Sugar scored their first radio hit – “Diggin’ a Hole” from the album Hemi-Vision – in 1996. Since then, the band has gone through several line-up changes and recorded 11 albums, including their most recent effort, Eternity Now. Through it all, vocalist Gordie Johnson has led the way with his signature double neck Gibson guitar. Today’s Big Sugar includes Johnson, drummer/multi-instrumentalist Chris Colepaugh, percussionists Alex Johnson and Rey Arteaga, and bass player Ben Richardson.

On Sunday, June 30, 2019, the City of Port Moody presents Big Sugar for a set of great music starting at 9:15pm at the Golden Spike Days Festival in Rocky Point Park. Whether they’re playing old favourites like “If I Had My Way” or new songs like “Anything Is Possible,” Big Sugar is sure to rock the house and keep you dancing as you celebrate Canada’s 152nd birthday.
