City and Rotary announce contribution agreement as construction nears for Inlet Park Community Fieldhouse

The City of Port Moody and the Rotary Club of Port Moody are pleased to announce a contribution agreement regarding the Inlet Park Community Fieldhouse, to be built as the third and final phase of the Inlet Park Redevelopment Project. It’s anticipated the selected contractor will begin pre-construction work in late January 2026.
“I’m very pleased to share that Rotary Club will donate $750,000 toward the construction of the new fieldhouse,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “This type of investment in community infrastructure is part of the Rotary’s mission. They work tirelessly to achieve positive change and support a wide variety of projects – including legacy projects like the fieldhouse – that will benefit community members of all ages. We’re grateful for their contribution to this new building that will be a welcoming space for Port Moody residents and visitors for many years to come.”
“This legacy project reflects Rotary’s commitment to initiatives that create lasting benefits and it represents an investment in Port Moody’s future,” says Rotary Club of Port Moody spokesperson Ian McPhail. “We are proud to support a vision that will benefit the community for generations.”
During the design phase of the project, the Rotary Club of Port Moody expressed an interest in exploring a contribution with the City. The terms of the agreement were finalized in late 2025. With the Rotary’s donation in place, the City has agreed to provide, through an operating agreement, a space inside the community fieldhouse and regular allocations of scheduled time for Rotary Club meetings and events. Review City staff’s January 13, 2026 report to Council (agenda item 11.2) for more information.
The new three-storey community fieldhouse will include:
- changerooms, public gender-neutral and universal washrooms, concession space, and storage on the ground floor;
- multipurpose room, catering kitchen, washrooms, and indoor viewing space on the second floor; and
- office/meeting spaces, washrooms, and outdoor covered viewing deck with bleachers on the third floor.
The design for the building strives to achieve leading sustainability and energy efficiency targets as well as third party accessibility certification. For more information on the design, please refer to City staff’s June 25, 2024 report to Council (agenda item 11.1).
During construction, which is anticipated to take 18 months, all efforts will be made to keep Inlet Park open for users while minimizing periods of disruption. The number of parking stalls will be affected at times. However, staff will work with the contractor on an ongoing basis to minimize the impact on parking, while ensuring the parking lot is safe for contractors and the public.
In phases 1 and 2 (completed in March 2024) of the Inlet Park Redevelopment Project, the site at 3024 Murray Street was transformed from a gravel field into a high-quality, all-weather, artificial turf surface. Formerly called Inlet Field, the soccer surface was renamed Bob Favelle Field in April 2025. In addition to the revitalized soccer amenities at Inlet Park, improvements include baseball and softball diamonds, a batting cage, children’s tot lot and natural play area, restoration planting and landscaping, and additional parking spaces and infrastructure for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
