2024 utility fees are due on or before February 29

Be sure to pay your utility bill on or before February 29, 2024 to avoid a late payment fee. There is a five per cent late payment fee applied to payments received after February 29. A second five per cent late payment fee is applied to amounts that remain overdue after April 2.
Water and sewer services, along with recycling, green waste, glass, and garbage collection, operate on a user-pay system in Port Moody. Utility rates are set annually and the City collects only the amount of user fees needed to cover the cost of delivering these essential services.
Here are six easy ways to pay your utility bill:
- online by credit card (Mastercard, Visa, or American Express) through the City’s website at portmoody.ca/eservices;
- through telephone/online banking using “Port Moody Utilities” as the payee, and your five-digit utility account number;
- at your bank, available at most Canadian financial institutions;
- drop a cheque made payable to “City of Port Moody” at the 24-hour Finance drop box located at the rear entrance to City Hall;
- by mail to City of Port Moody, 100 Newport Drive, Port Moody, B.C., V3H 5C3 (postmarks are not accepted as date of payment); or
- in person at City Hall, Main Floor, 100 Newport Drive, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), using credit card, debit card, cheque, or cash.
The City of Port Moody works with Metro Vancouver to provide water and sewer services to residents and businesses. In late 2021, City Council approved a tiered structure for water and sewer rates with the goal of distributing costs in a more equitable way. The new rate structure came into effect in 2022, replacing a system in which all residents paid the same flat rate regardless of housing type. The tiered structure means some residents will pay less and some will pay more, depending on their housing type. Although the number of people per household can vary, changes to rates were determined based on the estimated average number of occupants (i.e. users) for each housing type.
